I know. We need rain. We will all complain this next hot summer without water. And all those season ski passes just going to waste. But we’re looking at the silver lining. The positive spin. The blessings in disguise. Whatever, we get to shoot pictures! Lucky for High School senior Jensen (by the way, LOVE the name and wish I thought of it first!), we had perfect weather, gorgeous lighting, and pretty green leaves all around. Meet basketball star and loving babysitter and friend: Jensen. Congratulations!

And then as babies?

Well, now they’re ONE! See if you can see them without smiling. Seriously, it’s impossible!

You know those online worlds where new moms hang out when they are… new moms… and they find an entire network of friends from every corner of the planet that relate in at least one way ~ they’re exhausted. Well, 3 ways. They’re also overwhelmed and happy. Ok, one more: delirious… because they’re new moms. Well, it was in that cyber world where I met Amanda. We just also happened to have another thing in common, we both love pictures and we love shooting pictures! Fast forward a couple years. Amanda booked a family session for her and her husband and son with us but while we were waiting for picture day, she changed jobs, found out she was pregnant and we missed the chance to meet. Now, two years later, that baby is ONE and his big brother is 4 and we finally got to meet in person AND take fun pictures outside in the Northern CA sun! What a cool thing it is to meet someone you feel like you’ve met and known for so long. It was GREAT to meet you Amanda, and your amazing boys. And Damien, her dear husband, was so wonderful too. He carries all the bags, and the kids, and the checkbook, and smiles the whole time. How lucky is Amanda?!

Oh, and did I mention that cutest lil’ baby there is turning one? Well, so we had to do a classic cake smash session to see how delirious a tiny guy could get after he engulfed the whole thing… and here’s what we captured, in between laughs and near tears!

Natalie has been a rep for Eikon for a couple of years, and we’ve loved getting her in front of our cameras! Thanks for coming out and bringing Bradley along for the fun.

We caught up with the Troquatos just as the sun was setting. A beautiful family with some beautiful lighting.

It is fun playing with digital images. And it’s fun to have a business partner take it into her own hands, all in the name of messing with a ballerina’s perfect lines and refined look a bit, adding some texture and grit to our pretty images in the name of plain old creative FUN.

And then there’s just this kind of fun, playing with desaturations of color and slight changes in hue. I love the pinks in this final result!

And I typically hate digitally enhanced yellows since getting them naturally is SO much more amazing, but I think this one turned out nicely… 

Ok, so she thought she was going to have plan her own 30th… she started calling friends and inviting them to karoake and practicing her favorite songs to sing her way into the 30th year of her life. But when she stopped by to pick up one couple on the way, SURPRISE!!! We were all here with the event of a lifetime planned MONTHS in advance.
